What is an art room? An atmosphere of inspired thinking & exploring!

Art room, studio, creative lab, work place, think tank, stimulating creativity by design, dye bath, clay area, the large group work table, the rug, drawing boards, the easel, the paint mixing table, the gallery, the image file, invert the row-style division, create a collaborative studio atmosphere in which the student takes responsibility for research & exploration of concept and process in art making. Varied activities ensue simultaneously in the art room. Students enter their art room with enthusiasm and a serious attitude to pursue and complete their work knowing they drive their own process, the thinking, and choices embedded within their own artwork. As a teacher I facilitate the creative process by redirecting choice toward the student with guiding questions, connections to art historical references, and through group discussion. Such an inviting, non-judgmental and effervescent atmosphere uplifts creative divergent thinking and helps engender the most student engagement and collaborative learning!
